Tyler Requests Re-Hearing In CenterPoint Case

The battle between the City of Tyler and CenterPoint Energy is not over yet.

Today, the city filed a motion to request a re-hearing on the rate case.

As you'll remember, last month, the Texas Railroad Commission ruled in favor of CenterPoint and against Tyler. The ruling said Centerpoint did not set unreasonable prices for its natural gas from 1992 to 2002.

Tyler's attorneys say they're hoping the commission will reverse its original decision.

"Well, I'm always optimistic," Gary Landers, the city attorney, said. "It was pretty devastating. Their last ruling seemed pretty clear to me that they didn't like what we were suggesting to them."

If the Railroad Commission rules against Tyler again, the city will then consider whether to appeal to a state district court.
