New Mayor Of Longview Is Already Making Plans

After winning the Longview mayoral run-off Jay Dean says he is ready to begin rebuilding a working atmosphere at city hall. In the official tally , Dean won the run-off election with 52 percent of the vote, with Dr. Andy Mack getting 48 percent.

"What I want to do now is see our community come together we need to be focused on getting back to business and with Andy's help his organization our organization we can accomplish great things.  We had a huge turnout for this election," Dean says.

Running on a campaign of service to the people of Longview, Dean now says he's ready to deliver what he promised and hit the ground running .

"The first thing I want to do is we're going to take a step back and work on transition.  We'll meet with the community.   I've already met with some former mayors," the new mayor says.

His message caught on with voters who realized that change in the often tumultuous Longview city council was desperately needed.   With a plain sense attitude, he hopes that his leadership will provide a stabilizing force in the new look city council.

"We're going to work, 24-7 to make Longview the shining star of East Texas that's the goal that I have".

Dean will serve the remaining year of former mayor Murray Moore.
