Courthouse Shooting Evidence Being Destroyed

Now that the investigation into the Smith County Courthouse shooting is closed, Tyler Police have plans to destroy the evidence. That evidence includes the three weapons and ammunition collected from that day. As for the flack jacket and bullet proof vest, police plan to preserve them.

"The weapons are going to be melted down for our policy. The flack jacket and the bullet proof vest, we're going to take that and use that for training for law enforcement purposes so it will be used in classes," says Officer Don Martin with the Tyler Police Department.

Police also have the bullet-riddled truck David Arroyo used as a getaway. They are giving his family the option of keeping the truck since it belongs to them.
