Lake Palestine Stocking Up Fish Supply

An effort was made today to help make your fishing trip to Lake Palestine a little more enjoyable. Hundreds of thousands of hybrid stripe bass are now calling Lake Palestine home. Texas Parks and Wildlife dumped a 120,000 of them in the lake Thursday. They're just over an inch long now, but they'll be ready to catch by the end of next year. "We're figuring these fish will be a large enough size, they'll be 18 inches in a year and a half and the lake record out here is a little over 13 pounds, so they have the potential to get quite large," says Richard Ott, District Fisheries Leader for Texas Parks and Wildlife. Because of predators, the fish are being let go in open water, so they can have a better chance of survival.
