Whitehouse Pitcher Drafted By Cardinals

An East Texas pitcher is about to make the jump from high school to the pro's.  Whitehouse pitcher Josh Wilson was drafted today by the St. Louis Cardinals in the second round of the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft, 70th overall.  His family threw a party for him this afternoon at his Whitehouse home.  He said it's been a whirlwind year.

"I had a workout in Houston a couple of weeks ago," said Wilson, "and my Dad looked at me and said, 'I remember when I was taking you to little league parks and now I'm taking you to big league parks', so the whole process was great. The last few days have been really stressfull, but it's been exciting and wonderful and I can't wait."

Josh says he expects to receive at least a half million dollar signing bonus.  He says the Cardinals will also pay for his college education. He is scheduled to report to rookie ball in Johnson City, Tennessee within the next week.
