U.S. Airman Comes Home To Marry Sweetheart

Gregory Janes, 20, has a few things to take care of before his big day.

First things first: a marriage license. He and his high school sweetheart are tying the knot this Sunday. Brittany Kelley, 17, has been doing all the planning, since Greg has been away.

Stationed at Kunsan Airbase in South Korea for the past six months, Gregory has been loading weapons for training exercises there and in Iraq. Before that, he was at the Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, where he began his military career 2.5 years ago.

"I called my dad up. I was like, you know what, I want to be in the Air Force," Gregory said. "And he's like, are you stupid? I was like, no."

It was an Air Force TV commercial that had him hooked.

All the while, Gregory was dating Brittany for the past four years -- most of the time, long distance.

"It's really, really hard, but I've done it since freshman in high school," she said. "I'm tough. I mean, my dad was in the military, so therefore, I'm kind of used to having to say goodbye."

Even after their wedding, the happy couple will have to say goodbye again. Gregory is returning to South Korea for four months.

But right now, they're just focused on the beginning of their lives together.

"I'm going to marry this beautiful girl right here. That's all I need to know," Gregory said.

They'll have to wait until after South Korea to celebrate a delayed honeymoon, but it'll be an extended one.

"Our honeymoon's going to be a 3-year tour in Italy, as of December," Gregory said. "So I think that's pretty much a honeymoon as anything else."

Their first home together: the Aviano Airbase near Venice.

Brittany says she plans to go to college in Italy and then become a police officer there. Then, she and Greg hope to return to the United States.
