Unique Funeral For Speed Boat Racer

A unique funeral was held in Tyler this evening to remember a man who loved to race on the water.

Friends of Thomas Clayton Socia, 42, led the procession with six speed boats.

Socia was a champion boat racer in Tyler. He died Wednesday night, when he lost control of his vehicle, hit a guard rail, and was thrown from his car.

To honor Socia, his childhood friend drove Socia's truck with his boat in tow.

"He was very outgoing, easy to get along with, and very popular," Clay Elliott, Socia's best friend, said. "And we wish he was still here."

Socia leaves behind his wife and two teenage children.
