Texas AmVets Helping Families In East Texas

Their husbands, sons and brothers served to make the country safe. Now a group of women is serving up some meals for those in need.
The Texas AmVets" gave a hefty donation to the East Texas Regional Food Bank Saturday afternoon.
The AmVets are wives, mothers, and sisters and even granddaughters of veterans. The women said they donated the food because too many Texans need their help.
"There's over three million hungry Texans, and they fall in between the cracks," said Donna McClache. "They don't qualify for food stamps or other aid. But they don't have enough money to feed their family. This is a small way of us making sure that they get enough to eat."
The Junior AmVets also held a blood drive Saturday afternoon. The AmVets come from across the state, and make a trip to Tyler three times a year.
