Lindale Takes Game One Against Carthage

The much anticipated matchup between Lindale and Carthage lived up to it's billing. In front of packed house at Driller Park in Kilgore, the Eagles broke through in the top of the second. Nevin Rhea laid down a bunt. Carthage pitcher Clayton McMillan threw it away trying to get Aaron Neely at third. Neely then trotted in to make it 1-0.

The next batter, Justin Valdez, blooped a double to left center which brought in Mitch Baker to make it 2-0 Lindale.

Carthage cut the lead in half in the bottom of the sixth. Lindale pitcher Carson Middleton got Kris Tate in a run down between first and second. Lindale took a little too long tagging him out, allowing Brandt Goodwin to score.

That's all Carthage could muster. The Eagles played strong defense, and Middleton kept the Bulldogs off balance. Lindale wins game one 2-1. Game two is Saturday at 2:00, with a game three to follow if necessary.
