HOUSTON, TX (KLTV) -

According to both ESPN and NFL.com, Texans head coach Bill O'Brien will take over the playcalling duties next season. In addition, the team will not hire a new offensive coordinator to replace George Godsey, who mutually agreed to part ways earlier this week.

Godsey called plays for the first three games of 2016 before O'Brien took over. During the later half of the year, both guys split the playcalling duties.

In other organization news, Romeo Crennel has been named an assistant head coach and will be in a senior advisor role to help O'Brien. Linebackers coach Mike Vrabel will be the Texans defensive coordinator in 2017.
