The Jury Gets Case

The jury in Michael Jackson's child-molestation trial gets the case today, after hearing again from the defense, prosecution and judge.

In closing arguments yesterday, Jackson's lawyer said prosecutors portrayed Michael Jackson as a hard-drinking, porn- collecting pedophile to "dirty up" his image. They couldn't prove their case that he molested a child.

The defense countered that the accuser's family consisted of con artists, actors and liars, adding that the prosecution showed the weakness of its case. The defense can take up to two hours to complete its closing remarks and prosecutors can go as long as an hour in their rebuttal. The judge is to give the jurors some brief final instructions, handing them the case by early afternoon.

Jackson, 46, is charged with molesting a boy in 2003, plying hime with wine and conspiring to hold his family captive to get them to rebut the documentary "Living With Michael Jackson. In the documentary, Jackson holds hands with the boy and says he allows children into his bed for sleepovers.

A spokeswoman late last night denied reports he'd been hospitalized for dehydration. She said he seemed "fine" when she spoke to him and he plans to be in court today.
