Summer Camp Focuses On Teens & Alcohol

Alcohol is the number one drug of choice for teenagers. That fact has led to a unique summer camp at the Longview police department.

This week, teens will hear from law enforcement and hospital workers. They say teens who drink are more likely to be involved in an accident and to have unsafe sex.

A trauma nurse at Good Shepherd hospital says programs like this camp, can help. The Summer Alcohol Awareness Camp will also include a mock trial later this week that will give students an idea of what it would be like, to be on trial for drinking and driving.

It's not too late to sign up. The camp meets again Wednesday through Friday, from 9AM until 1PM, at the Longview police department. The cost is $5 per student grades 9-12.
