The roar of Lion pride brought tears and cheers of joy Saturday morning in Tyler.
More than 300 John Tyler students crossed the stage to receive their diplomas at the Oil Palace. Ninety percent of this years John Tyler class was admitted to colleges or the military.
When asked how they felt about the big day, many couldn't find the words.
"Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. That's all I can say," said Shunte Andrews.
"I'm excited. It's been a long time. Tweleve years. It feels great," said Alfonso Malacara.
"It was great," said Michael Ward. "I had a blast in high school. There are some things I wish I could change but overall it's been great."
During the commencement address, Principal Michael McFarland congratulated the class and praised them for accepting his challenge to restore John Tyler High.
