Terrorist Leader al-Zarqawi Wounded

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi is blamed for bombings and kidnappings throughout Iraq and is the most wanted man in Iraq. The United States has posted a $25 million reward for information leading his capture. Some Islamist Web sites have reported a message saying that al-Zarqawi had been wounded. The message has asked supporters to offer prayers for the militant.

Last year al-Zarqawi pledged his allegiance to Osama bin Laden, who later praised the insurgent's work against coalition troops in Iraq. More than 40,000 security personnel will be stationed in the capital of 6 million people.

Gunbattles, shootings and a car bombing have claimed at least ten more lives in Iraq. The U.S. military says a child was killed in the northern city of Tal Afar today.

Battles have been going on since Monday when two explosions killed at least 20 people. The U.S. military says terrorists have been using children as shields.

In Baghdad, five people, including three police officers, were killed today by a car bomb targeting an Iraqi security patrol. Elsewhere in Baghdad, four Iraqis were killed when gunmen in a speeding car fired automatic weapons at a group of people walking to work. A translator working for the American military was among the victims.
