New Treatment For Snoring & Sleep Apnea

Patsy Sheats is tired all the time.   "I have to take naps during my breaks because I am so tired," she explains.

Excessive and loud snoring keeps her up all night long, but that's about to change. She came to ENT in Tyler today to get a new treatment called pillar implants.

"It is housed inside a needle which is inserted in the roof of the mouth and injected in soft tissue where in a few weeks it will integrate into the pallet and become a part of it and stiffen it," says Dr. Howard Garb of ENT in Tyler.

Dr. Howard Garb says once the pallet stiffens the snoring should stop for the rest of her life. Dr. Garb says it is a much easier and safer option than traditional surgeries where doctors cut the pallet. In ten minutes the procedure is done and Patsy is ready to go home and sleep.

"I hope like a baby," she says.

The procedure is not covered by insurance and will cost you about $1500.  Also, the procedure is not available for anyone with obstructive sleep apnea.
