Keeping Longview Parks Safe From Lewd Behavior

In an ongoing, undercover investigation, Longview Police are maintaining their close watch of city parks.

Today, a 60 year old man, whose name has not been released to the media, was arrested. He's accused of exposing himself to an undercover officer.

This was the fourth sting operation held at Longview parks in the last 2 months. They've made 10 to 15 arrests so far. Police say the numbers of arrests are dwindling because the message is getting out.

"The media help has been tremendous," says Sgt. Seth Vanover with the Longview Police. "We want to take our parks back for our kids and families, not for lewd behavior."

Anyone arrested or contacted by police for lewd behavior is banned from all Longview city parks. If arrested, a person can be charged with up to 6 months in jail or forced to pay up to a thousand dollar fine.
