Jackson Defense May Rest Today With A Show-biz Finale

Michael Jackson's defense could rest its case as early as today after comedian Jay Leno testifies.

Leno is expected to say the accuser's family badgered him for financial help. Other witnesses may include comic Chris Tucker and a Celebrity Justice reporter.

The defense contends the accuser's mother exploited her son's bout with cancer, collecting money from celebrities and others.

A welfare officer testified that when the mother applied for assistance in 2001, she reported neither personal gifts nor thousands of dollars she'd received from a lawsuit settlement.

The mother used her right against self-incrimination to avoid questions about welfare fraud when she testified in March.

The accuser's aunt testified yesterday, saying she organized blood drives when her nephew had cancer, but his mother said she didn't need blood, she needed money.
