CHEROKEE COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

A Cherokee County man has been arrested and charged with murder in an apparent shooting death.

Around 4 p.m. Wednesday, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office received a call that a person had been shot and killed at a residence in the 700 block of County Road 3706 near Mt. Selman, according to officials.

When officers arrived on the scene, they were met by the owner of the mobile home, identified as Rayburn Hobbs, 82.

Cherokee County officials say that a deceased male who appeared to have been shot was inside the residence.

The victim is identified as Jimmie Gale Zinn, 69. Officials later learned Zinn had recently moved from Idaho and was staying in East Texas.

Zinn's body was sent to East Texas Forensics in Tyler for an autopsy.

Hobbs was arrested and charged with murder. He was transported to the Cherokee County Jail. His bond has been set at $1 million.
