2016 Christmas parades around East Texas

East Texas cities are getting in the holiday spirit with parades, tree lighting ceremonies, and other festivals. Here is a list of 2016 events. (Note: List is based on events on or after December 1, 2016 and those that have already taken place have not been listed).

Due to inclement weather, many events have been postponed or rescheduled. Click here to see a list.

December 1: Tyler parade at 6 p.m.

December 1: Jacksonville parade at 6 p.m.

December 1: Henderson parade at 6 p.m.

December 1: Gilmer parade at 6 p.m.

December 1: Longview parade at 6:30 p.m.

December 2: Sulphur Springs Christmas in the Square

December 3: Harleton parade at 11 a.m.

December 3: Winona parade at 5 p.m.

December 3: Waskom parade at 3 p.m.

December 3: Mineola parade at 5:30 p.m.

December 3: Marshall parade at 6 p.m.

December 3: Ore City parade at 6 p.m.

December 3: Nacogdoches parade at 6:30 p.m.

December 4: Liberty City parade at 2:30 p.m.

December 5: Daingerfield parade at 5:30 p.m.

December 5: White Oak parade at 7 p.m.

December 5: Carthage parade at 7 p.m.

December 8: Canton Lighted Christmas Parade at 6 p.m.

December 8: Gladewater parade at 6 p.m.

December 8: Troup parade at 6 p.m.

December 10: Winnsboro parade at 6 p.m.

December 10: Palestine parade at 7 p.m.

December 10: Gun Barrel City parade at 6 p.m.

December 12: Lone Star parade at 5:30 p.m.

    At this time last year, a guy by the name of Dak Prescott was still on the draft board. In fact, the Mississippi State star didn't hear his named called until Saturday during the fourth round. Luckily for the Cowboys, Prescott turned out to be the hidden gem of the 2016 draft class. The NFL AP rookie of the year was in Longview Friday night for a fundraiser supporting the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Big Pines.

    The UT Tyler softball team battled back from a 5-2 deficit but lost to UT Dallas 6-5 on a walkoff home run in the bottom of the seventh inning in the winner’s bracket semifinal of the American Southwest Conference tournament Friday at Suddenlink Field.
