Longview firefighters were able to save seven cats in a house fire Wednesday afternoon.

Just before 1:30 p.m., emergency personnel responded to a fire reported near the intersection of Gilmer Road and H.G. Mosley.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze in the 1300 block of Sleepy Hollow, where at one point flames could be seen coming out of the roof of the house.

Authorities say seven cats at the residence were rescued without harm. The homeowner was not home when the fire broke out.

According to authorities, the fire did not spread to neighboring structures.

Officials believe the fire started near the area of the HVAC.
