TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

Newly-released surveillance video of a Tyler fast food restaurant shows employees fighting off a robbery suspect.

Tyler police released video of the incident Tuesday. Police are hoping the video will lead to an identity of the suspect.

About 10 p.m. Saturday, officers say they were called to the Sonic Drive-In in the 2500 block of West Gentry Parkway. An employee told police that a Hispanic male entered the store, displayed a knife and demanded money.

Two Sonic employees fought with the suspect in an attempt to prevent the robbery. During the altercation, the suspect pepper sprayed the employees and cut one of them with the knife.

The suspect ran out of the store and got into a white four-door sedan that police believe was waiting for him near the rear of the store. No money was stolen from the store. The suspect is described as a thin Hispanic male, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, wearing a black and grey jacket, black ball cap, and with a blue and white bandana covering his face.

The Sonic employee who was cut by the suspect was transported to East Texas Medical Center by ambulance with a non-life-threatening injury.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the department at 903-531-1000, or Smith County Crime Stoppers at 903-597-CUFF (903-597-2833). Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and charges filed against the suspects in this case or any felony case.
