National Adoption Day in Smith County

It's national adoption month and today in Smith County it was a time of celebration. Judge Clark was on hand at Rose Heights church to consummate the adoptions. From ages one to 16-years-old, in all 15 children were adopted into 10 families this morning. But there is still a great number of other children right in our own backyard that could use a forever home.

"There is a lot of kids that need to be adopted. We're really trying to spread that out that we need foster families. Families that will just support these kids and love them.  We always have kids that can be adopted or can be in the foster care system, " CPS Supervisor Kelli Mayo said.

Smith County has two big adoption days a year. The next one will be in the spring.

The John Tyler Lions always seem to look sharp in their uniforms. But thanks to East Texas lawyer Keith Miller, the Lions will look better and play safer. Helmets that advertise lowering the impact of hits, and possibly reduce the amount of concussions, come with a hefty price-tag. Miller's donation of 7,500 dollars, will go to help the lions cover that cost. "Keith Miller's been a big sponsor of John Tyler High School football program for years now.  I know it's...More >>
