Raising Funds At A Higher Altitude

The heights some people in East Texas will go to, to raise money for something close to their hearts. For Mineola's Mike Adolph, that's about 25 feet up. Mike's the manager of Bailey's Ace Hardware. Today through Sunday at 5 p.m., Mike's going to live up on the roof of his hardware store.

He's soliciting donations for Children's Miracle Network.

"Many years ago in the 70s my step-daughter swallowed 2 nickels. At the time we didn't know what it was, we took her to Children's Hospital in San Diego and they removed 2 nickels from her throat," says Mike. "And right after I saw the tool they had to use on a 1 year old, I knew someone had to take up the cause of children's hospitals, So I started then donating money, donating my time in California."

Mike made it 3 days last year, without a canopy, but says the forecast calls for much warmer temperatures this time around. He's also throwing a couple of fundraising dances on the store parking lot tonight and tomorrow night.
