Restaurant Reports: Toothbrush in the cooler among problems in 2 Tyler eateries

TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

Dirty utensils, expired foods, and even a toothbrush were found by health inspectors on their latest rounds.

In  Tyler,

Applebees #8018 at 5502 South Broadway.

Products in refrigerator not being kept at proper temperature. (thermometer)
Several pans were pulled from the 'clean dish rack' that still contained food residue. (unclean)
open container of black pepper for refilling table dispensed sitting exposed at wait station. (unclean)
Two employees observed carrying the date mark labels in their mouths and then returning to the line to place the label on packages/containers.

East Texas Donuts at 223 West Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Personal items such as towels, toothbrush and toothpaste observed in the reach-in cooler. (unclean)
Store manager/person in charge lacking basic knowledge of food safety. (danger)
 Prepared foods not labeled with time marker- must be discarded after 4 hours. (danger) 
Notified that cooking food for personal use is not allowed. (unclean)
