John Tyler Wraps Up Spring Football With Scrimmage

Spring football came to a close tonight for the John Tyler Lions as they held their spring game at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium.  Many curious fans turned out to see just what all the talk was about. New head coach Thomas Brooks promised a wide open, shot-gun offense and he delivered in tonights controlled scrimmage, sporting three wide reciver sets.  Expect to see a lot of passing by the Lions. The fans seemed to like what they saw on the field tonight.

"I think it's good," said John Tyler fan Tony Luton.  "You give kids oppourtunity to get out and show what they can do. The coaches get to evaluate, move kids around, find out what kids can and can't do and make some adjustments."

"It's good for the kids," said John Tyler fan Charles Arps.  "It shows us what we can expect in some ways for the coming season. So I've got some great expectations for it."

The next time the Lions will see Rose Stadium is Friday, August 26 when they open the season against Texas High.

With the smallest enrollment in District 17-5A, and really across the entire classification, Lindale could use that as an excuse for a sub-par season. But under defensive coordinator, turned head coach Chris Cochran, that won't be the case.
