New Bill Could Mean Changes In Animal Cruelty Laws

It's designed to toughen animal cruelty laws in the state of Texas. Senate bill 172 is set to go for a vote during this session, but if it's not made available by tomorrow morning, the bill will die.

One local attorney says it's imperative the law change to protect animals from vicious attacks by people. "This is as urgent as it gets. We've got less than 24 hours to get this bill passed. This is a very good bill, it's the law in 42 other states," says Kelly Heitcamp.

If the revisions are not made by tomorrow, the state will have to wait two years before bringing it back for another vote.
