(WOIO) - Josh Tomlin didn't get the win in Game 3 -- that went to Andrew Miller. But Tomlin did deliver the performance that Terry Francona expected, giving the Tribe 4.2 innings of shutout baseball, before they finally scored in the 7th.
The pitcher said he found comfort during the game from his dad who was at Wrigley Field.
Tomlin's 57-year old father, Jerry, was paralyzed from the chest down following an illness in August. MLB reported that it was due to a rare condition involving his blood vessels on his spinal cord called arteriovenous malfunction.
It's not known if he'll walk again. Tomlin is very close to his family and said he talks to his parents every day.
The Tomlin family is in Chicago, just a week after Jerry was released from a rehabilitation center.
The Cleveland Indians beat the Chicago Cubs 1-0 in Game 3 of the World Series. The Tribe now leads the Fall Classic 2-1. Games 4 and 5 will be played at Wrigley Field at 8 p.m.
