EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -

Happy hump day, East Texas! It's been a busy news day both locally and nationally.

Here are a few stories for you to check out this afternoon:

1. The state's highest criminal appeals court has acquitted two East Texans accused of burning their granddaughter's feet in scalding water. Shelley and Kenneth Walker, of Tyler, were arrested in 2012 and charged with injury to a child. They were both sentenced to 25 years in prison.

2. An East Texas student has been arrested for terroristic threat. Tuesday, 18-year-old Dennis Wayne Forte, was arrested by Tyler ISD Police.Tyler ISD officials said Forte brought a BB Gun to school and threatened to use it.

3. As the long and rancorous campaign lurches toward an end, Donald Trump gets one of his last opportunities in Wednesday night's final debate against Hillary Clinton to turn around a race that appears to be slipping away.

4. We have made it more than half way through the work week and it is still very warm. By this time tomorrow, it will be much cooler, it will have rained in many areas and the temperatures will be 10-15 degrees cooler, if not more. The warm southerly winds will shift toward the North during the morning hours tomorrow allowing for some very fall-like air to move into East Texas. As the front moves through, the chances for showers and thunderstorms will increase to about a 50/50 chance in the morning, diminish quickly during the afternoon to near 0 by the mid to late afternoon hours. Watch KLTV7 News at 5 and 6 for the latest update from Chief Meteorologist Mark Scirto.
