Anderson County will have a bigger jail to house inmates.
Voters in the county approved a tax increase to fund a new jail.
57 percent of voters were for the tax increase compared to 43 percent who were against it.
Taxes will go up more than 5 cents for every hundred dollars of a homes value. That does not include the elderly or disabled, whose taxes are already frozen.
The $10 million dollar facility will have as many as 300 beds. That's more than twice the capacity of the current jail.
