Bank Robbery In Tyler

A bank robbery this morning in Tyler led to a deadly shooting involving a female suspect and dozens of law enforcement officers. It all began with a 9-1-1 call from the Guaranty Bank on south Broadway in Tyler.

From there, the suspect fled in her Winnebago RV, a couple of miles south to the Irish Meadows addition, chased by the FBI, Tyler police, state troopers, constable and sheriff's deputies.

The suspect is 60-year-old Peggy Jo Tallas of Garland. Police say she was not armed. They say she had a gun replica, not a real gun, and pointed it at police. Earlier in the day, a KLTV 7 source misidentified the suspect.

Tallas had been convicted for three counts of bank robbery in the Dallas area in the early 90s. Investigators are now working to determine if she was connected with any local robberies.
