Jacksonville Single minded In Spring Football Practice

The Jacksonville football team went three rounds deep in the football playoffs last year, only to watch district rival Kilgore win the 4A Division II State Championship. So to say the Indians enter spring football practice with a sharp focus, may be an understatement.  There are a lot of excited football players in Happy Valley these days, mostly because the pads are back on and cracking again.  Head coach Randy Copeland has a lot of extremely talented players running the practice field.  It's just a matter of figuring out where they fit in the big picture. And even though the football season is still more than three months away, the focus is already on one thing, and that is, winning a district championship.  That means, beating Kilgore, the Indians only district loss last year.

"I just want to beat [Kilgore] so bad," said offensive lineman Cody Lusk. "It was tough losing to them last year, our only loss in district. Just want to come back and beat them."

"They're pretty good, I understand," said quarterback Ramon Williams, "but we can get out from under their shoes and beat them this year and be state champions ourselves."

Jacksonville is scheduled to hold it's spring football game Thursday, May 19 at 6:00 at Mauldin Field on campus.
