"TAG" Cleans Up Vandalism, Keeps Tyler Beautiful

Their target is graffiti. The city of Tyler and the Boys and Girls Club of East Texas have partnered to clean up vandalism in your neighborhood.

It's called "TAG" or Tyler Against Graffiti. The program is designed to involve the city's youth and the community in reporting and cleaning up graffiti.  It can be on public and private buildings, parks and roadsides.

Through a hotline number, you can tell the city where is the graffiti. Two to three times a week, members of the Boys and Girls Club will go out to clean up the problem.

"It gives our kids a different opportunity to see things and keep the town clean," said Robbie Slocum, Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club of East Texas. "A lot of graffiti is used for a negative influence and for the kids to see it cleaned up and to keep the city cleaner that just makes things for our kids to look a lot better."

If you are a Tyler resident and spot graffiti in your area, you can call the "TAG" hotline at (903) 595-2821. Be sure to give specific directions to where you've seen graffiti. Your complaint will receive a response within 72 hours of your call.
