Husband And Wife Arrested In Cattle Scam

A cattle scam in East Texas bilked more than $100,000 from an investor.  Juan Manuel Hernandez Flores and his wife Raquel Velez Flores of Whitehouse, were arrested in Van Zandt County Monday.

Authorities said the Flores' told an investor he was purchasing cattle that would be sold to the Mexican government for profit.  Instead, authorities say the cattle were resold for $130,000 at auctions in Athens, Canton and Emory. The investor never saw a dime.

The Flores' are in custody at the Van Zandt County jail on $250,000 bail. Officials told KLTV they are both illegal immigrants and could be deported.
