Bush Holds Wide-Ranging News Conference

President Bush has used a rare prime-time news conference to dismiss the idea he's having second-term blues.

The news conference covered a range of issues from Social Security to Iraq.

But as far as the troubles of the first 100 days of his second term, Bush says he can't govern based on polls and he's not that concerned. He's faced tough sledding for his nominees, his energy plan and his Social Security proposal.

Bush also says he's not surprised at the hard time the G-O-P-run Congress has been giving him, since he's asking lawmakers to do "hard work."

Bush says he'll do what he can about high gasoline prices and that he disagrees with religious conservatives who say those filibusters of his choices for the federal bench are targeting people of faith.
