From the Texas Department of Transportation:

EAST TEXAS - Below are updates for projects that have changes for next week that will impact traffic.

Districtwide Seal Coat Operations are moving through the eight county Tyler District during the month of August. Planned work locations are as follows for the week of August 15 but rain forecast for the area could require adjustments.
-    FM 343 in Cherokee County from FM 2972 going southeast to US 69 in Rusk
-    US 84 in Anderson County from 3 miles east of FM 3266 near CR 392 eastward to Neches River at Cherokee County line
-    US 84 in Cherokee County from the Anderson County line going east to FM 343 in Rusk
-    US 287 in Anderson County from FM 2706 going southeast to FM 321
-    FM 645 in Anderson County from US 287 southward to End of FM 3328
The summer seal coat operation is the department’s preventive maintenance program that helps preserve roads by sealing them to keep water out, thereby, adding years of life to them, and lessening the required maintenance while providing a new driving surface for motorists. Motorists should bypass seal coat locations when possible to avoid delays.

Rusk County
US 259 North Project
•    Limits: From Star to Loop 571
•    Contractor: Madden Contracting Company, LLC
•    Cost: $4.3 million
•    Anticipated Completion Date: Late fall 2016
Expect lane closures nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday-Thursday (August 14-18) on this 2.3 mile project consisting of base repairs, mill and inlay of asphalt surface, placing a hot mix overlay, and upgrading the  pavement markings.

Gregg County
Loop 281 at FM 2087 Overpass
•    Limits: SH 31 to approximately one mile south of SH 31
•    Contractor: Longview Bridge and Road, Ltd., of Longview.
•    Cost: $13.2 million
•    Anticipated Completion Date: Late fall 2016
The southbound lanes of Loop 281 will be reduced to one lane August 17–August 19 at the SH 31 intersection. Delays are expected so avoidance of this intersection is recommended. This project is building a new overpass over the railroad crossing.

Also in Gregg County, bridge repair work resumes Monday, August 15, on the inside lane of I-20 eastbound at the Rabbit Creek Bridge. Work will be conducted from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. To help notify the traveling public about the work message boards have been installed at several locations around the area. This work will continue to result in heavy eastbound traffic from Mile Marker 588 to 590 on I-20 just past SH-31 in Gregg County. Expect reduced travel lanes just past SH 31 where the left lane will be closed. Work on the Rabbit Creek Bridge could take another week or two to complete and includes making repairs to the westbound side as well. The schedule is subject to change.
