Monday's Weather: Mostly sunny and hot with highs in the upper 90s

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -

Sunshine is back for the start of the work week... but so is the heat.

A ridge in the jetstream will bring sunny and hot weather into East Texas this week. We'll start our Monday morning in the upper 70s, warming into the low 90s by noon, and the upper 90s this afternoon. When you factor in the humidity, it'll feel more like the low 100s today. Winds will be out of the south around 5-10 mph.

That ridge will park over the region through the end of the work week, keeping any chance for rain out of our area. We'll be sunny with lows in the upper 70s and highs in the upper 90s.

By the weekend, that ridge will start to weaken, and we could see isolated showers and storms Saturday and Sunday.

A tropical wave is building in the Caribbean, with winds around the strength of a tropical storm. If that development continues today, the National Hurricane Center could bump this disturbance up to a tropical storm. This disturbance is moving westward at 20-25 mph, heading toward Mexico. It is not expected to impact our weather in East Texas, but we'll keep you updated, just in case it takes a turn.
