A Burn Ban has been issued for Anderson, Trinity, and Houston Counties, effective immediately, until further notice.

Happy FRIDAY East Texas! We've made it to the weekend!

The rain and cloud cover yesterday brought some relief from this summer heat, as highs in Tyler and Longview were in the upper 80s. We haven't had a high under 90 in over a month and a half! Unfortunately, this break from the heat is very short-lived, as rain chances continue to decrease over the next several days, and our temperatures are increasing.

Your TGIF forecast calls for a partly cloudy sky. 30% chance for showers or thundershowers throughout the day, but best timing will be in the afternoon. Highs will range from the low to mid-90s.

Rain chances drop to a 20% over the weekend, mainly PM pop-up showers back in the forecast, otherwise mostly sunny. Highs in the mid 90s, with heat index values once again approaching 100, so be careful out there this weekend.

Early next week even a less of a rain chance, and with temperatures heating up, highs will range from 97-99 towards the end of the week.

Try to stay cool out there, and have a great weekend East Texas!
