Wednesday's Weather: Scattered afternoon showers and storms with highs in the mid 90s

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -

If you haven't had any rain at your house in the past few days, don't worry... rain is back in the forecast Thursday.

A weak disturbance over the northern portions of Louisiana, combined with a humid air mass over East Texas, will keep that chance for showers and storms in our area today. We could have a few isolated showers in the morning, but the best chance for rain will be this afternoon through the early evening, during the heat of the day.  Most of these showers will be scattered, leaving light to moderate rainfall, but a few isolated storms could leave some heavy rain and produce high wind at times. Rain totals could reach 0.75" by the end of the day. The best chance for rain will be over our eastern areas, along the Texas/Louisiana border.

Overall, expect partly to mostly sunny skies Thursday with that chance for rain. Highs will reach the low to mid 90s this afternoon, feeling more like the upper 90s to low 100s when you factor in the humidity. Wind will be out of the south around 5 mph.

We could see a few isolated showers lingering overnight, but a better chance for scattered showers will be back in the forecast Thursday afternoon.

As that weak disturbance over Louisiana meets up with a stronger area of low pressure, moving over the Central Plains into the Midwest, we'll keep that chance for rain tomorrow. Once again, the best timing will be during the heat of the day, just after lunch through about the time the sun sets. These showers will be scattered with isolated storms. We could receive 1.00" of rain by the end of the day tomorrow.

Scattered showers will continue through the end of the work week, as that warm and humid air mass sits over East Texas. Rain totals could reach 1.25-1.50" by the end of the week. Lows will stay in the mid 70s with highs in the mid 90s through then.

Showers will linger through Saturday, but that high pressure to our west will start to build back into the region by the end of the weekend, bringing sunny and hot weather with it.

We'll start the next work week with mostly sunny skies, lows in the upper 70s and highs in the upper 90s.
