East Texans Selected, Traded In NFL Draft

In the 2005 NFL Draft, three players with East Texas ties were drafted, and another recent draft pick was traded.

Chapel Hill's Terrence Murphy, who played his college ball as a wide receiver at Texas A&M, was drafted in the second round by Green Bay. He'll join another former Aggie on the receiving corps, Robert Ferguson, who also played locally at Tyler Junior College.

Kenneth Pettway, who starred at Gilmer High School and at Grambling, was selected by the Houston Texans in the seventh round. Pettway expects he'll fit in with Houston as an outside linebacker in their 3-4 scheme.

Former Kilgore College Ranger Kevin Everett, who played tight end at the University of Miami, was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the third round.

Also, Jacksonville High School's Luke McCown, a fourth round pick of the Cleveland Browns last season, was traded to Tampa Bay on Sunday for a sixth round pick in this year's draft.
