Monday's Weather: Mostly cloudy with showers and storms. Highs in the low 90s

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -

Showers and cooler weather are back in the forecast to start the work week.

That area of high pressure that brought us the sunny and hot weather last week has moved to the west. Now, a dip in the jet stream, moving in from the east, will help to bring showers and storms into East Texas this week.

This trough in the jet stream, combined with a very moist airmass over the region, will bring the possibility for rain Monday through Wednesday. Expect a few isolated showers in the morning, but once we get into the heat of the day, showers will become more widespread Monday. Most of us will just have light to moderate rain today, but a few of us could see some locally heavy rainfall, due to a few isolated storms. Rain totals could reach 0.75" by the end of the day.

We'll be mostly cloudy Monday with highs in the low to mid-90s. Winds will be out of the south around 5 mph. That disturbance will slowly move west, over Texas, over the next few days. Scattered showers and storms will stay in the forecast Tuesday and Wednesday.  We could have 2" of rain by then. Lows will be in the mid-70s each morning with highs in the mid-90s each afternoon. Expect partly cloudy skies.

Another disturbance will move into the region Wednesday night through Thursday, keeping the chance for scattered showers in the forecast. We'll be partly cloudy with lows in the mid-70s and highs in the low to mid-90s each day.

A few showers will linger through the start of the weekend. By the end of the week, our rain totals could reach 2.5". Lows will stay in the mid-70s with highs in the low to mid-90s.

Have a great day!

The John Tyler Lions always seem to look sharp in their uniforms. But thanks to East Texas lawyer Keith Miller, the Lions will look better and play safer. Helmets that advertise lowering the impact of hits, and possibly reduce the amount of concussions, come with a hefty price-tag. Miller's donation of 7,500 dollars, will go to help the lions cover that cost. "Keith Miller's been a big sponsor of John Tyler High School football program for years now.  I know it's...More >>

The last time we talked about the Kilgore Bulldogs, quarterback Buddy Jackson and wide receiver Jonathan Shepherd were apart of the 800-meter relay team that won gold at the 2017 state track meet. But today they are back in the pads, and looking to turn their speed into touchdowns.  Competing in District 9-4A, Kilgore has always had a strong run game that helped them become the 2016 District Champs.
