WACO, TX (KLTV) -

On May 26th, Baylor head football coach Art Briles was suspended with an intent to terminate for his role in the school's sexual assault scandal, which involved several of his players.

According to ESPN and other reports, if it were up to a small number of Baylor boosters, Briles would return as the Bears coach in 2017. A small minority of Baylor donors are pushing for Briles to serve a one-year suspension and then return to coaching instead of being fired.

Some reports are indicating that the Baylor board of regents will vote Monday evening on whether to bring Briles back.

The bears have already hired Jim Grobe as their interim head coach for 2016.
