Recall Petition Falls Short In Longview

A petition drive to "recall" an embattled Longview city council woman, has fallen short. A group seeking to recall councilwoman Karen Hailey began their petition drive in October, seeking 17-hundred signatures; the amount needed to force a recall election. The drive was started by a voters group that sought to oust Hailey over racially laced e-mails she's accused of sending to fellow council members in 2004.

After the allotted "180"days, the drive has come up over 200 signatures short. We talked with Karen Hailey earlier tonight who said "I'm pleased with the result, I work everyday at the job that the people of district one elected me to do".

Hailey has continued to say she will not resign her council seat.
