Canton Holds Major Blood Drive For Coach Kinne

Canton head football coach Gary Kinne remained in the hospital Friday night in critical condition after being shot, allegedly by the father of one of his athletes.

A longtime friend of his told KLTV Coach Kinne came through the first surgery Thursday with no complications, and more surgery is scheduled for this weekend.

Today in Canton, friends, neighbors, and total strangers got together to help Coach Kinne any way they could. A Stewart Blood Center van collected more than a hundred units of blood for Coach Kinne Friday, making it one the blood center's best drives ever.

In fact, the blood drive was so successful, it's spawned a sequel. There will be another drive coming up on Monday, April 11th, at the First Monday Log Cabin from three to eight in the afternoon.

In a great display of sportsmanship, district rival Lindale's PTA will also have a drive coming up later on this month for Coach Kinne.
