Overton ISD athletic director resigns, accepts position at Bronte ISD

From the Overton Independent School District

OVERTON, TX - Overton ISD’s Athletic Director, Head Football Coach, and Assistant Principal Josh Barton submitted his resignation from the district effective June 3, 2016.
Coach Barton has accepted the principal’s position at Bronte ISD which is located between San Angelo and Abilene.

Barton was the head football coach for 4 seasons at OHS. The Mustangs advanced to the UIL playoffs each season under his direction, including making it to the second round during the 2012 season.

OISD superintendent Stephen DuBose reflected on Barton’s tenure, “He will be missed. He has worked tirelessly to make OISD successful in all areas under his direction and his commitment to the Mustang family has been outstanding. I know that I will personally miss him and whomever we bring in will have big shoes to fill.”

The district will begin accepting resumes and applications immediately. DuBose stated, “We are looking for someone with successful experience as a head coach or coordinator. It is important that they can motivate our athletes to continue to achieve at a high level and fulfill all of the duties that come with being a small school athletic director.”
