EAST TEXAS (KLTV/KTRE) - This banana pudding trifle will make mama, or anyone else in your family for that matter, extremely happy! Not only that, it is super easy to prepare.

Mama Steph's banana pudding trifle

Ingredients

  • Three or four large bananas, peeled and sliced
  • 4 to 5 cups whipped cream, either homemade or pre--prepared
  • Two 3.4 ounce packages vanilla instant pudding, prepared according to package directions, with 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract added after mixing to boost flavor
  • One store-bought loaf of pound cake, cubed
  • One box of vanilla wafers
  • Caramel sauce

Method

  1. Prepare the two boxes of pudding according to package directions, then whisk in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract; set aside.
  2. In a trifle bowl or a large serving bowl, layer ingredients as follows:
Half of pound cake cubes across bottom of dish
Half of pudding across cake cubes, followed by banana slices, then a generous drizzle of caramel syrup.
    Half of whipped cream.
The vanilla wafers, either left whole or as crumbs, according to your preference.
Repeat layers, ending with whipped cream with cookies on top of it, and a drizzle of caramel syrup for decoration.

There is really no way to mess this up. You can layer it however you would like! You can even alter this for someone who needs a no-sugar variation, by using sugar-free pudding mix, and using Splenda instead of sugar in your whipped cream, or using a sugar-free whipped cream substitute. Omit cookies.
