April 12 is one of the more delicious food holidays, in our opinion: National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day!
To help celebrate, we're kicking off with a grilled cheese variation for breakfast, which uses waffles, bacon, and cheese.
Grilled cheese-waffle breakfast sandwich with syrup
Butter one side of a thawed waffle, and place it in a hot skillet. Top it with a slice of cheddar cheese, then break up the bacon slices into bite-sized pieces, arranging over the cheese.
Top bacon with another slice of cheddar, and a slice of Swiss.
Top with another buttered waffle. Flip when bottom waffle is golden brown. When cheese is melting and bottom waffle looks golden, remove from heat and place on a plate. Cut in half.
In a small bowl, pour some syrup for dipping the sandwich halves in.
