Bernie Tiede, his defense team, state prosecutors, and Judge Diane DeVasto will all be in a Rusk County courtroom Thursday, for the final pre-trial hearing before the re-sentencing trial for the 1996 murder of Marjorie Nugent.
Possible outcomes from this hearing could range from a dismissal of theft charges against Tiede to an agreement on previous time served, which could render the trial process unnecessary.
Danny Buck Davidson, who formerly represented Tiede and recused himself from his defense, was subpoenaed the day before this pre-trial hearing. Davidson could be called to the stand during Thursday's hearing.
KLTV has been live streaming the hearing, but the judge issued a court order to stop the live stream for the remainder of the day.
Tiede was released from prison in 2014 into the custody of movie director Richard Linklater. Barring any development from the hearing, jury selection will begin April 1 in Henderson.
