The spirits of Tyler's Oakwood Cemetery came to life today.
A dozen historians dressed up as the soldiers, government leaders, and others buried there since 1849. The Cemetery Restoration Committee gave guided tours all afternoon.
"This is where the history of Tyler is," Maxine Herbst, a member of the committee, said. "All the people, early settlers of Tyler, are buried here. The ones who helped develop Tyler."
Money raised from the tours will be used to repair the hundreds of broken monuments in the 20-acre cemetery.
