Strong Storms, Hail Hit East Texas

Inches of rain and hail hit East Texas Thursday night. Most of the area was under either a thunderstorm watch or warning for much of the evening.

There was a lot of lightning and more hail than we've seen around here in a long time. In the Woods Subdivision in Southeast Tyler, many yards were filled with small piles of marble-sized hail, six to eight inches deep in some places.

We also talked to motorists who suffered cracked windshields because of the hail. The strong line of storms, for the most part, was finished with East Texas by 11 p.m.
