Sheriff: Wounded Deputy's Recovery Nothing Short Of Miracle
The long road to rehabilitation has started for Smith County Sheriff's Deputy Sherman Dollison.
Dollison was the deputy critically wounded when David Arroyo, Sr. went on a shooting rampage outside the Smith County Courthouse last month. Dollison was shot four times. He was on life support for a time, but Sheriff J.B. Smith says his recovery has been nothing short of miraculous.
"Of course, he had the greatest medical facilities and doctors in the world right here in Tyler, Texas. We believe this was 50 percent prayers because that guy didn't have a chance. He was shot all to pieces," Smith said.
Dollison has been moved to the ETMC Rehabiliation facility. Doctors don't know when he might be able to go home. His first request for solid food: a hamburger.
